Grace and Tony Bascetta

In 2009 Tony was laid off from his job as a construction superintendent. Tony, instead of staying at home collecting unemployment went to work as a carpenter. Our income was slashed. I knew we needed to make a change. We would not be able to pay our bills and keep our home.

We began our adventure on August 5, 2009. I named the construction business “A’more  Enterprises.” Tony is Italian and the love that we have for each other would give us the strength needed to succeed. We continued working our jobs. I would estimate on my lunch hour and work on our business on my days off. Tony studied and achieved the status of a Class A Building Contractor. A year later an acquaintance that Tony had worked with asked if we would be their carpentry subcontractor for a project at Fort Pickett. Tony was able to quit his carpentry job. I continued working in the operating room until November of 2010. I was estimating and managing the business. We decided in order for us to succeed I needed to devote full time to the business. It has been hard, but after three years we are beginning to see a profit. Leaving the nursing profession has freed me to reach my full potential. I am able to help others learn and grow and contribute to the community. We are becoming successful because we have been on the other side of the fence and know what the customer and the employee expect. Our vision is to provide a quality service in a professional manner on time within the budget. Our policy is to reward our employees for their valuable contribution to our business. We have clear goals and systems in place that we share with our clients, employees, and subcontractors. We were both over fifty when we started this business. We plan to grow our business for the next ten years and then to hand over the management to someone in our firm. Our code of ethics and integrity keeps us on the path to success, respecting others and contributing positively to our community.
